Hanna Instruments HI 98703 EPA Compliant Portable Turbidity Meter

Hanna Instruments HI 98703 EPA Compliant Portable Turbidity Meter Review

Hanna Instruments HI 98703 EPA Compliant Portable Turbidity Meter Feature

  • Two, three, or four-point calibration to obtain results across a wide range
  • Exceeds the requirements of the USEPA Method 180.1 for wastewater and Standard Method 2130 B for drinking water
  • Equipped with tag identification system for using with electronic tags in the field
  • Automatically compensates for variation in lamp intensity, minimizing need for frequent calibration
  • Logs up to 200 measurements until data can be downloaded to Windows

The Hanna Instruments HI 98703 is a portable turbidity meter designed to meet EPA reporting requirements.

The meter has two, three, or four point calibration, can log up to 200 samples, and has automatic range selection. It operates on four 1.5V AA batteries and automatically shuts off after 15 minutes of non-use. The meter has a USB 1.1 or RS 232 interface, a tungsten filament lamp light source and a backlit LCD screen to reduce glare. Equipped with tag identification system for using with electronic tags in the field, and logs up to 200 measurements until data can be downloaded to Windows.

The meter uses the Ratio Nephelometric Method (90 degree), and an adaptation of the USEPA Method 180.1 and Standard Method 2130 B. Turbidity ranges are 0.00 to 9.99; 10.0 to 99.9 and 100 to 1000 NTU + or - 2% of reading plus 0.02 NTU, with resolutions 0.01 NTU from 0.00 to 9.99 NTU; 0.1 NTU from 10.0 to 99.9 NTU; 1 NTU from 100 to 1000 NTU. Typical EMC deviation is + or – 0.05 NTU. Dimensions are 224 x 87 x 77 mm (8.8 x 3.4 x 3.0”), with weight 512 g (18 oz.).

Turbidity meters measure the loss of transparency due to suspended particles present in a solution. They are commonly used to measure the turbidity of water in both the field and laboratory.

Hanna Instruments manufactures a wide variety of analytical instrumentation, including pH meters, multi-parameter meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. Founded in 1978, Hanna is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, with subsidiaries in 32 countries. Hanna Instruments holds many firsts in the field of analytical instrumentation, including a pH electrode with a built in temperature sensor, an electronic pocket-sized pH tester, and a replaceable electrode pH pocket tester. To assure the quality of its products, Hanna is a vertically integrated manufacturer and does not subcontract any part of its manufacturing.
